Salvation

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16 (NIV)

What is Salvation?

Salvation is the deliverance from sin and its consequences, brought about by faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the son of God who came to earth to provide a way for mankind to experience eternal life with Him. Jesus was fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life and then gave His life as a sacrifice for mankind. He was crucified on a cross and rose from the dead three days later, beating death and making a way for us to be with God.

Key Aspects of Salvation:

  • Forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7)
  • Reconciliation with God (2 Corinthians 5:18-19)
  • Eternal life (John 3:16)
  • Freedom from the power of sin (Romans 6:22)

What Does It Mean to Be Saved?

Being “saved” refers to the state of having received God’s salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. It’s a transformative experience that impacts every aspect of a person’s life.

If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9 (NIV)

Being saved involves:

  1. Acknowledging our need for a Savior (Romans 3:23)
  2. Believing in Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31)
  3. Repenting of sins (Acts 3:19)
  4. Receiving God’s grace by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  5. Experiencing spiritual rebirth (John 3:3)

Living as a Christ-Follower

Following Christ is a lifelong journey of growth, obedience, and transformation. It’s about aligning our lives with His teachings and example.

Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” – Luke 9:23 (NIV)

Key aspects of being a Christ-follower include:

  • Cultivating a personal relationship with God through prayer and Bible study (Colossians 3:16)
  • Loving God and others (Matthew 22:37-39)
  • Serving in the church and community (Galatians 5:13)
  • Sharing the good news of salvation with others (Matthew 28:19-20)
  • Growing in Christ-like character (Galatians 5:22-23)

His love and offer of salvation are gifts He gives freely to anyone who is willing to turn from sin and follow Him. His desire is to enter into a personal relationship with each one of us & give us life, in Him, so that we can share that life and His love with the world!
