River City University is the adult education ministry offered at River City Community Church. Classes and groups are designed to help you grow spiritually and make Biblical life choices so you can experience the real, abundant life that God has for you. Classes are organized in six learning tracks.

Knowing God Series

KNOW HOW TO GROW
Learn the basic practices that will help you grow into Christ-likeness. You will be equipped with the skills you need to turn these skills into habits.

KNOW HOW TO PRAY: Effective Powerful Prayer
God loves the sound of your voice.  He not only wants to answer your prayers, but answer them in specific, amazing ways.  Learn how to pray earnest, heartfelt prayers that make great power available.

KNOW YOUR IDENTITY: Who You are in Christ 
What is your identity? How do you see yourself? As a follower of Christ, it is important to know how God sees you and what He says about you as His child. It is critical to understand what God has already provided for you through Christ. Come and learn your true identity in Christ.

PREPARE TO WIN / KNOW HOW TO WIN:   Living Victoriously through Daily Spiritual Warfare.

We are the focus of an invisible war. We have an unseen enemy who has a powerful influence over our world. Learn how to be prepared by laying a solid foundation of faith. Learn the 5 basic truths about spiritual warfare, how to recognize your enemy, and walk in the victory that Christ has won for you.

Women’s Bible Study

“It’s Not Supposed to Be this Way” What went wrong? Why did God let this happen? What happens when life looks very different than the reality we long for?  Bible teacher Lysa TerKeurst has walked through her own valley and discovered that in God we can find unexpected strength as we wrestle well between our faith and feelings. In this video study, you gain fresh biblical insight to get you through painful situations, and life-giving perspectives for living in between Eden and eternity.

FAITH IN ACTION
This class, will help you learn how to activate and increase your faith, eliminate fear, deal with offenses, stay right with God even when you’re not “feeling it”, have victory over feelings, have faith in the midst of doubt, and learn how to change your attitude and guard your thoughts.

MEN’S FRATERNITY: AUTHENTIC MANHOOD – Winning at Work and Home Part 2
This course was designed to help men live an authentic manhood by coming together and strengthening each other through weekly sessions that combine biblical teaching and small group interaction.
This class offers a clear definition of what a man is and challenges each man to
develop his own personalized manhood plan.

ALTAR EGO: Becoming Who God Says You Are

Who do you think you are? The world, our family, and our hearts all tell us something different. While some of these labels may be true, they are not the whole story. In this study we learn that we only discover our true identity when we lay down our perceptions of ourselves, and allow Jesus to tell us who we are. Come discover your true identity in Christ and begin living with confidence in who God wants you to be.

Marriage & Family

RE|ENGAGE

Re|engage offers hope to marriages and moves couples towards oneness through understanding God’s design for marriage, hearing personal stories of restoration, through biblical teaching, and small group interaction. Here is a safe place to reconnect, reignite, or resurrect your marriage.

UNTYING THE KNOTS OF THE HEART 

Does your past continue to follow you around and weigh you down? Are there roadblocks that keep you from experiencing everything God has promised you? Difficult knots require special tools and extra help. Untying the Knots of the Heart uses a small group process and insights from God’s Word to untie the knots – those family background wounds and barriers that stand in the way of us experiencing God’s love and acceptance in a way that transforms our actions, emotions and relationships. It takes the gospel to the remotest parts of the heart so that you can know God better and know yourself better. 22 weeks – 12 weeks over Spring semester and 10 weeks over Fall semester. *Please call or e-mail Mark McLemore (mmclemore@reallife.org) to answer questions and understand commitment before you register.

FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY

A biblically based curriculum that teaches you how to eliminate debt, live on a budget, communicate better about finances, and handle money God’s way. (2 classes – Sunday and Tuesday)

MANHOOD JOURNEY

Manhood Journey is a small group program with fathers and sons participating together. It is a Bible-based approach to building young men through the discipleship and mentorship of their own father. It features guided biblical discussion with hands-on interactive workshops. First 6-week session: “Standing Strong” – putting on the armor of God. Second 6-week session: “Leading Lessons” – learning to lead like Christ. Ideal for fathers with sons 8-15.

COFFEE WITH RUTH and NAOMI

Calling all Mom’s of young children!! We know that Motherhood is the most important job and one of the hardest! As young mother’s it’s important that we have mature and experienced mother’s to help guide, encourage, and speak into our lives on this journey. Join us as we glean wisdom from amazing guest speakers, make new friends, and join forces in raising Godly children!

CHRIST – CENTERED 12-STEP RECOVERY
Using the Life Recovery Bible, this group connects the 12 steps with a faith community, a reliance on prayer, and the scriptures. If you are struggling with an addiction, you can find freedom. “So if the son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36

What does the Bible say about the person of God, the historical Jesus, the existence of spiritual beings and phenomena, the creation story, the source and propagation of sin, and the purpose of man? Roll up your sleeves for Systematic Theology 1’s required theological digging designed to stir, challenge, and anchor every student. This course helps students arrange the puzzle pieces in an orderly, logical fashion to solidify why they believe what they believe. This class requires a computer and internet connection. This is a live class with a remote professor.
